The Taliban have their first nation-wide police brutality scandal on their neck.

The local Taliban police commander in Faryab Qari Akka decided to punish the teenage boy Gul Mohammed for the crime of talking to a girl over the phone in an Islamist country with Sharia laws.

He penetrated the boy so violently with a stick that he has been in critical condition in hospital for 10 days now.

For the first time, the punishment was filmed and the video has gone viral in Afghanistan.

Facing public pressure, the Taliban have even been forced to release a statement saying they have arrested the police commander.

Whether that is true or not remains to be seen.
