Five U.S. aircraft carriers are likely to gather around the Korean Peninsula between April and May, the U.S. Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported on the 8th.

The U.S. aircraft carriers identified by the RFA are the USS Ronald Reagan, USS Theodore Roosevelt, and USS Carl Vinson, as well as the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS George Washington. It is the first time that five U.S. aircraft carriers will gather in the sea near the Korean Peninsula.

According to the RFA, the USS Abraham Lincoln, which departed from San Diego on the 5th, is expected to develop into the western Pacific Ocean near the Korean Peninsula in April after completing combat readiness training.

The USS George Washington, currently in the Atlantic Ocean, is also expected to move to the Western Pacific Ocean near the Korean Peninsula from April to May for a shift with the USS Ronald Reagan, which is being repaired in Yokosuka, Japan.

Since the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier's overseas deployment cycle is six months, the USS Carl Vinson and USS Theodore Roosevelt are expected to carry out missions in the Western Pacific region until April and July, respectively.

If this happens, there is a high possibility that five U.S. aircraft carriers will be deployed near the Korean Peninsula. In response, a U.S. Navy spokesman did not comment for operational reasons, according to the RFA.

Bruce Bennett, a senior researcher at the Rand Institute, a military expert, said, "If five U.S. aircraft carriers actually gather near the Korean Peninsula, they will scare North Korea."
